The secret is OUT!!!

I am officially a member of the ArtpopStreetGallery Class of 2023

Last year around the holidays I spoke with some of my artist friends and discovered that those amazing billboards showcasing local artist's work around town was actually apart of this AMAZING non profit initiative created by Wendy Hickey was something that ANYONE could apply to be apart of. Of course that was something that HAD to end up on my vision board for the year. With some hard work and help from my friend Dweh Brown of Homebase Films, I was able to grab an image to crop and submit to be in the running and here I am a year later a part of 19 adult artists and 1 KILLER high school senior artist making up the 2023 10 year anniversary class. I am beyond overjoyed to be recognized in such a LITERAL big way and can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me as my billboard makes it's home in the skyline for a bit. Thank you to Wendy and the rest of the staff, thank you to the jury, and thank you to anyone that's had a hand in seeing me through to this moment.

Please take a moment to go visit the ArtpopStreetGallery website and get to know some of my amazingly talented classmates!

I'm back in School!!!

Yep you heard it, I'm taking the leap to continue my education in menswear design and have enrolled in the Savile Row Jacket Masterclass

Some may or may not know that I have been majority self taught as a designer, but there are so many areas where I feel like I can learn in regards to honing my craft. I'm not someone so driven by ego, that they assume to know it all and actually find myself excited to be gaining secondary education from someone who's skills and talents in the area of men's tailoring supersede my own. (ESPECIALLY when that someone is another black man in fashion which comes with its own type of triumph) All that to say, I applied for a grant from the Arts and Sciences Council and was blessed enough to receive the award of an Artist Support Grant! I'm so grateful and so excited to be embarking on this journey! Thank you so much to the Arts and Sciences Council and the North Carolina Arts Council for investing in me in this way...I am eternally grateful!

I will be updating you all with my progress over the next year via my social media and possible tidbits delivered here on my website. I am currently 2 weeks in and am drafting the pattern for my first bespoke jacket!

I'VE BEEN PRETTY BUSY AND I'M SO EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU!!
